I (SGB75) have a had a general interest in UK TV ratings for over 20 years. My interest came to light when I was manually writing/copying the top 20 listings from the What's On TV magazine, onto lined paper. I then thought I would invest in a cheap electric typewriter, until my brother suggested I should invest in a cheap PC, which was what I did. I remember the PC used the old Windows 3.1 operating system. Sadly I never kept any of this data/information.
Come the late 1990s and into the new millennium, my interest remained purely visual and no data was kept. It wasn't until 2008, when I came across the BARB website and decided to start recording the data again. So since November 2008, I started typing out the top 30 ratings from the main five channels as well as other listings from various other sources and publications.
During the last six years I have complied well over a thousand files containing a variety listings and data. Mainly consists the of the top 30 shows from each of the main five channels, from the last six years and also lists of the number one shows from each of the channels.
Check out The Plan page to find out how and what I have planned.
In 2014, after 6 years of recording thus data, it was decided to cease this plan as the task in hand was just too epic to complete, and would off been impossible to continue as I would of never been able to clear the back data as well as complying the new data that is issued on a weekly basis.
In the Spring of 2015, I decided to start recording the data of the programmes of what I viewed, including when it was viewed. Though this was short lived and ONLY lasted about 6 months.
